Michelle and Kurt James are the owners of the South Bay SeekingSitters location.
The James’ have two children of their own, a 4 year old boy and a 6 year old girl. They
reside in the Seaside Ranchos. When they had their first child, they realized that not having any of their own family around, and living in a community where people come from far and wide, made it difficult to find babysitters they trusted. Ultimately, this is what lead them to open Seeking Sitters in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. As parents, they understand the need for reliable, trustworthy, childcare.
Michelle grew up in the Midwest where she spent many weekends babysitting for all of the neighborhood families. She also has had experience as a full time summer nanny watching four children from six months to six years old. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Univer-sity of Iowa and took many early childhood art education courses, which she loves to instill in her own children. She is a member of the PTA and is getting involved in the Torrance school system.
Kurt is a San Diego native and has also had babysitting experience in his high school days and was a National Youth Representative for his church. Most recently, Kurt was a Pop Warner coach for Torrance and is becoming active in AYSO. He has a BA in International Communications, and a MS in Nego-tiation, Conflict Resolution and Peace building.
Their passion is their kids, but as ambitious business professionals with sixteen years ex-perience in the business world, both of them struggled to maintain balance between family and work. Having reliable childcare made it possible for them both to pursue their careers while insuring that their children were well cared for and loved during the day. When they heard about Seeking Sitters they knew from their own struggles to find good babysitters, that they were not the only ones who faced this dilemma and knew that they could help other families find good care too.
